GREEN REFLECTIONS ALGAE POOL

I recall details of my paintings long after they're gone--a shadow on an apple, the chore of getting a still life prop to stay in place, a girl in the woods admiring my painting, in love with her pitiful nuzzling pit bull. However, this painting stops me in my tracks. It's a mystery to me. What was my inspiration? Where is this scene?

RACCOON MOM and KIT

                                                                                                                         nfs

I came across these raccoons--Mom and four kits--in the woods. They waddled off while I swatted mosquitoes and got my camera out. After a couple of steps toward a tree they went behind, I paused to take a quick shot of the sunlight filtering through the leaves and there they were, twenty feet up, watching me. Walking through the fallen leaves, the kits had seemed to be the same dark color as Mom. Up the tree in the sun they were little baby-fuzz balls of light.
